Westport Plaza Hotel Celebrates 20 Years

This June, the Westport Plaza Hotel proudly celebrates 20 years at the heart of Westport hospitality — two decades of welcoming guests, marking special occasions, supporting local employment and helping create lasting memories in one of Ireland’s best-loved towns.

Part of the Westport Hotel Group, the Westport Plaza has grown under the ownership of Anne Corcoran, Joe Corcoran and Anna Marie Corcoran, whose family values and commitment to genuine hospitality continue to shape the hotel today. From the very beginning, the Plaza has been known for comfort, style and a warm Mayo welcome, becoming a favourite for leisure breaks, weddings, spa escapes, dining and celebrations of every kind.

Over the years, the hotel has continued to grow and evolve. Recent refurbishment of the bedrooms has ensured that guests can enjoy the comfort and quality of a modern four-star hotel, while still feeling the warmth and personality that have always made the Plaza special. The opening of Coveys Gastrobar has also brought a lively new dining experience to the hotel and Westport.

Spa Sula remains one of the hotel’s busiest and most-loved spaces, offering guests and day visitors a peaceful retreat in the centre of town. With VOYA organic treatments, seaweed-inspired therapies, VOYA seaweed baths and the Thermal Suite, it has become a cherished part of the Plaza experience — a place to pause, unwind and enjoy a little time for yourself.

Leading the team today is General Manager Michael McLoughlin, a local man whose pride in Westport and understanding of genuine hospitality are reflected in the welcome guests receive from the moment they arrive. That commitment to guest experience is also reflected online, with the Westport Plaza Hotel currently rated the number one hotel in Westport on Tripadvisor.

Many guests have returned time and again, often bringing family and friends with them, and that loyalty has played a huge part in the hotel’s story.

The Westport Plaza Hotel continues to invest in greener practices, including energy management, waste reduction and the installation of solar panels, as part of its commitment to protecting the beautiful surroundings that make Westport such a special place to visit.
