Just returned from a lovely stay in this hotel with my family, the room was a very spacious family room with a great sized ensuite. Lots of extra pillows and a lovely bed for my daughter, great Spa and leisure facilities and great for all the family. We had a meal in the relaxed pub and the food was served hot and tasted delicious. The staff are very friendly and always willing to help. Lovely breakfast and good variety of hot and cold food. Free news papers as well for guests. Overall a fine hotel and great value for money, we will be back to stay aging very soon, thanks to all the staff at the hotel.
Having been let down so often in Irish hotels this year, maybe my expectations were low but I can honestly say this is the best stay in a hotel I’ve experienced in years.
We only had one night here, but will definitely be back. When you go to a hotel you expect certain things as basic for any hotel regardless of location or star-rating of the establishment. The Westport Plaza exceeded all of these particularly in the area of staff friendliness and helpfulness.
From the moment we approached the reception, we felt the staff were vying for our attention. We had treatments in the Spa Sula which has a really cool outdoor rockpool enclosed within a walled garden. We ate in the Restaurant Merlot where we had fabulously cooked and presented food. The waiting staff were very helpful and there was always one nearby to call over. As we left the restaurant, every member of staff we passed (total of 5) said goodbye. Exceptional in its rarity in hotels these days! This is obviously a policy driven by the management and I commend them for that.
It’s sad that basic good manners and service stands out so dramatically but we have become used to expecting and receiving very little in all the different service/retail sectors in this country.
Overall, a really great experience and one that has restored my faith in Irish hospitality (maybe it’s the influx of foreign workers who are showing us the way we used to do it)
We stayed here for 2 nights, it was really lovely. The room was lovely, staff so helpful, food beautiful. Went to the spa back, neck and shoulder massage and Indian head massage all for 55 euro. Will definitely go back!!!
