Stayed here with my girlfriend for 3 days in the spring last year, and I still remember how good it was. Nice bed, quiet room and very nice bathroom
The staff on the hotel is very friendly and helpfull
The breakfast on the hotel is very good as well. We did have dinner there once but that was not that great unfortunately. It was a bit overpriced and not the quality expected from the hotel.
Never the less it did not ruin our experience, and for the price and quality this is highly recommended.

We stayed in for an anniversary in July. I emailed ahead and explained that it was our anniversary to see if they could aknowledge in any way. When we arrived we were told that we were upgraded to silver service. It was lovely. We got a fab room on the top floor with robes and some hand made local chocolates. Our room was huge with two mini balconies and a fabulous bathroom. The staff were very friendly and the service was top notch. My only minor complaint was the buffet breakfast as I prefer breakfast cooked to order. Overall a great experience and I will definitely go back.

I have worked as a Travel Agent for many years and travelled the world with it’s finest hotels but this one has to rate in my top ten for not only it’s high spec standard of accomodation but also most importantly the service from every single member of staff. It was a xmas of complete niceness and relaxation I was after for my family as we had two major illness in the past year and some sad moments so we decided when all was now happily good that we would go away for xmas. It was a hard task to find somewhere that would live up to what we were looking for especially at xmas but from the moment we checked in with Donna and I saw my room I knew all was going to be great. The food was excellent, start with champagne brunch xmas mornin (which was by no means lemonade either!!!) the atmosphere friendly and relaxed and the staff offering unending miles of service. There were some young families there, couples and elderly and everyone was more then happy to come again next year. Even the kids had Santa not forget them!!!There was entertainment every night and the table quiz i feel was an especially nice touch maybe an idea for more of the same on the next xmas calendar!!!The rooms, service, decor all was without fault and I could say that it must have been the best hotel to spend xmas in Ireland undoubtly as the other guests and us all felt we could not wait till next year. I can not finish either without sayin to the owners of the hotel that they can rest assure they have one in a millon Managers in John Clesham anyone would think he had no home himself as he never left the buildin at any time and overseenin everything personally himself he deserves a high praise for doing a brillant job. Also Fiona and Ruairi and all the staff from the kitchen to accomodation thank you so so so much for a wonderful time and for your job well done!!!

Great Hotel. Can’t fault it in any way. The quietness of the room was amazing given that we were overlooking a road at the front of the hotel. My wife used the Spa Sula and really enjoyed it particularly the friendly staff. The first movie each night on the hotel system was free so we had a family movie night each night of our stay. I would recommend the hotel to anyone for a short or long trip. Not related to the hotel particularly but the 40km greenway walking/cycling route on the route of the old Westport to Achill railway is just brilliant and any trip to Westport should include a long walk or cycle on the greenway. You can hire bikes in Westport.

The whole spa experience was perfect! You start off by changing into your swimsuit and they provide gorgeous robes and slippers, and you spend an hour in the Thermal Suite. It has different wet and dry sections and a sauna, and an outdoor Jacuzzi. It is super relaxing! From there you are brought to have your treatment done. After your treatments, there is a separate room to relax with tea, fruit and magazines until you are ready to dress and leave. The staff are all really nice and professional. There is a calm, relaxed atmosphere throughout the entire experience. I highly recommend!

Spent weekend in Westport Plaza and it is just superb. Staff at reception made us very welcome from the outset and all through the weekend all the staff in restaurant, bar and even housekeeping were just simply wonderful. Often times we find housekeeping staff who don’t want to converse, but not here where they made you feel very homely.
The room was fine size with king size bed and jacuzzi. The food in the restaurant was great and good value. We had dinner there one evening and it was excellent and tasty. The spa is excellent and good value, while the leisure centre is attached to the sister hotel across the court yard “The Castlecourt”.
Overall while this hotel is slightly more expensive that it’s sister hotel accross from it, it is excellent value as they go the extra mile in terms of comfort. Highly recommended.

I booked the Westport Plaza for a group of girls for a sophisticated ‘hen’. I bombarded the hotel with numerous emails to organise the trip and the staff were wonderful and exceptionally helpful. They sorted out 3 rooms and 8 treatments in the spa. The reception staff were fantastic during the entire weekend.
The hotel itself is beautiful, spotlessly clean and extremely comfortable. The food at dinner, and breakfast, was excellent.
Our rooms had little balconies and all the rooms have jacuzzi baths (which I made time to use even on our action packed weekend!). The beds were fabulous too – extremely comfortable.
I would definitely recommend a trip to the spa which is part of the hotel complex. Once again the staff were really friendly and welcoming.
I really couldn’t fault this hotel. Overall it was superb quality for a fantastic price! If you are considering a trip to Westport the Plaza would be tough to beat.

The restaurants are a real treat with elegant evening dining with very fine cuisine at a fabulous fixed price with lots of choices. I love the way you order your hot breakfast from the menu rather than the tradional hot buffet, it was served very hot on heated plates, a very nice touch. The spa beauty center is a must do and very well priced, it really is a treat with the foot spa, steam, sauna and fabulous rock pool hot outdoor spa.

Just back from a 3 night break at this hotel. Plenty of parking in an underground car park and a warm welcome at reception greeted us. The room was very comfortable, with the bed in particlar being one of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. Breakfast was of a high standard every morning. Also, I left my phone behind and the receptionist kindly posted it out to me. Contrary to what an earlier reviewer wrote, one of the first things we did on arriving at the room was to empty out the minibar without reading the sign on the door – however reception sorted that out for us straightaway, no charge. Location couldn’t be beaten either. There is no free wifi across the hotel and this is something that should be looked at in future (however this seems to be the case with most Irish hotels). I’d recommend this hotel to anyone.

”Weekend Break – If I could live here – I would!!” – Oweee – Reviewed 28 November 2011 –Overall Rating 5/5
I booked this hotel for a weekend break with my wife and baby through an external web site.
On arrival they had no record of our request for a baby cot, which had been requested through xxxxxxx.com. I was pleasantly surprised when the cot was delivered to our room less than 5 minutes after we walked through the door.
I have to say, this is one of the most comfortable hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The rooms are furnished to a very high standard, and the beds are phenominal.
The facilities are everything you’d expect from a top notch hotel in Ireland. Unfortunately I didn’t use the pool or leisure centre, but having stayed in the sister hotel previously (across the courtyard) I can testify as to the quality of the services available.
Our King sized bed and whirlpool bath were a god-send at the end of a long day. Plenty of towels and extra blankets (which we didn’t really need as the AC kept us nice and warm).
In most hotels, there is a standard charge for the pay-as-you-go movie service. In the Plaza, they give you a free movie every day as well as a standard list of TV channels.
Unfortunately, at the time of writing, Free Wi-fi is something of a rarely in Ireland,. There is free Wifi in the lobby of the hotel, and in your room you can avail of 24-hr internet access AND all the movies you can eat, all for only €10 per day…which is pretty good value all things considered.
We had breakfast each morning in the restaurant (included in the room rate). Choice was good and there was a plentiful supply of food and drink….buffet style.
Food and drink prices in the bar are pretty good too…with a nice bar food menu. I recommend the Seafood Chowder!
There’s not really a lot more to say about the hotel itself. I’d live here if I could….it’s simply brilliant.
That brings me to probably the most important aspect of our stay here…the staff.
All I can really say is, they are a credit to themselves, the management and their training. Always polite and efficient.
They go out of their way to help with queries and always have a smile on their faces..
I love this hotel.
It’s billed as a luxury hotel, and what I really like is the fact that it lives up to it’s reputation.
Will I be back? – as soon as I get the chance.

”Looked like an ordinary modern chain hotel, but this place was surprisingly good” -Rockyroad2dublin -Reviewed 5 November 2011 – Overall Rating 4/5
I assumed from the new appearance of the building that this was a bog-standard chain type hotel run by accountants and I expected mediocrity, but I couldn’t have been more wrong, The hotel is family-run (owned by the same family as the Castlecourt hotel next door), and the level of service, courtesy and comfort is as good as the best anywhere.
The room was quiet, comfortable and well-equipped, and had the most comfortable hotel bed that I have slept in for many a year. Breakfast was excellent, apart from a slight shortage of items on the cold buffet like cheese etc, but the hot food was good and the service quick and friendly. Free newspapers etc, professional front of house staff, and plenty of parking in the basement car park.
Apart from the deficit in the breakfast buffet and the slightly high room rate (118 euro B&B for two), I found this to be a hotel that was very much to my liking, and I will use it again.

From the moment you check-in the reception staff are friendly and not at all robotic. Great menu in the bar so you can have a lovely meal while watching a match on TV. Our waitress on two occasions was a girl named Sylvia who looked after us really well. Oh! by the way, you NEED to order the chocolate fudge brownie, oh good lord! We ate out in Westport town one night but came back to the hotel for the fudge brownie. My girlfriend loves the spa and is always delighted with the treatments she has. I love the FREE movies in the room which are always up to date. Beautiful rooms, spacious and comfortable which have air conditioning (a big thank you for that
) Bathrooms have jacuzzi baths which obviously add to a relaxing stay. Originally we came for Westport but we went back for the hotel. Everytime we return it’s equally good if not better. great secure underground parking too. We stayed on a very stormy night when the power went, and the hotel staff handled it brilliantly. The receptionist came to our room to explain what happened which was comforting and assured us it was only temporary which it was. we always leave the hotel delighted with our stay. The only reason we haven’t been back is we recently got a puppy and are waiting for it to be old enough to be left in a kennel
oh by the way, the fudge brownie is sooo fudgey and is served hot!

The location is only a few minutes walk from the main pubs and restaurants of Westport, although there is a choice of the bar or restaurant if you want to eat in, depending on your budget. We ate in the bar on one of the evenings and the food was excellent and good value.
The rooms are large and spacious with free broadband (although I would have preferred wifi which was only available in the lobby area), jacuzzi bath and large shower in the standard rooms.
Breakfast was first rate and I have been informed by my work colleagues that the self service Irish breakfast was delicious.

The only negative was that there was a power failure on one evening and we were told that the hotel had no back-up generator, so many guests were re-directed to their sister hotel The Castlecourt for dinner. While this wasn’t a problem for us, it might have been for people with young children or the elderly, as it happened in the evening and was dark. Of course, as ever, staff dealt with everyone in a courteous and caring manner, so we will be returning in the next couple of weeks and judging by other recent reviews, nothing has changed, it’s still a fantastic hotel. We’re soooooo looking forward to it!

I wanted to write this review to share my experience of the Plaza Hotel. I stayed here with my extended family to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary in Sep 2011. We had ages ranging from 1 yr old to 72 yrs old and one and all enjoyed it enormously. The accommodation is fabulous and the entertainment excellent. We ate in both the bar and the restaurant and found both to be of an extremely high standard. The staff were so warm, friendly and inviting. The children really enjoyed the hotel pool and some of our party tried out the spa and would highly reccomend it.

I’m writing this review a bit late lol i stayed here in July 2009 me, husband and 2 children. I was booked into the Atlantic coast hotel for 7nights dinner b&b( our honeymoon as we had no one to mind kids to go abroad) and had such a bad time with staff and the hotel itself i drove around westport trying to find somewhere else to stay. I went in to get prices and see if they had any availability and told them what happened, they could take us so we went and got our stuff right away. where do i start the rooms were out of this world all modern with beautiful decor two massive beds and a cot, the bathroom had a large free standing shower and Jacuzzi bath, lcd tv with movies u charge to ur room and they refund when you leaving. they also sent us up robs slippers wine and water and chocs i couldn’t believe it. what made this hotel was the staff there was noting too much for them they were so polite and courteous. i have stayed in hotels in Ireland and this was the best by far i will always recommend this hotel and thanks for making my honeymoon special instead of a disaster.

Some reviewer previously said that “this must be one of the best hotels in the world”. You know what, maybe. No wonder this hotel has one of the highest TripAdvisor rankings of any hotel I ever stayed in.
Parking was a breeze. Upon arrival we were kindly treated by the reception staff and upgraded to the Presidential Suite! Don’t get me wrong, should we have not received the upgrade, our review would have still been the same. This is a wonderful hotel.
Beds are heavenly (King), the best I ever slept in. Sheets are soft and silky. Better than the Venetian in Las Vegas. Better than many other 5* hotels. Rooms are clean and great and the atmosphere is fancy but not alienated or too formal.
You get to order one movie for free every night. It is roughly a minute walk into this small town. The Sula SPA was top notch. A truly memorable experience that was worth the extra investment.
Some CONS (maybe management would be able to fix):
The hotel’s restaurant’s food was pretty good but not worth the steep prices in our opinion. Service felt a bit forced and not was not sincere.
WiFi available ONLY in the lobby is a bit of a let down (although the lobby is very nice)
I would expect such a hotel to serve a richer Breakfast.
What can I say, well done Wesport Plaza.

The hotel was clean, welcoming and comfortable. The bedroom was a bit small for the price I paid. Bathroom fabulous with separate double shower and jacuzzi bath. It said I would have complimentry slippers and use of bath robe but I had to phone down for them. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was brilliant – great range of food buffet style. Bar food was nice too. Close walking proximity to town centre. The pool was god but had childrens swimming lessons on when I went in the evening and morning.

”Great Hotel well located in Westport” – Villa74 – Reviewed 30 September 2011- Overall rating 5/5
We stayed here for 2 nights in August and were very pleased with the hotel, the room, the staff and the all the facilities. We had an evening meal in the hotel restaurant as part of our 2 day package and couldn’t fault it. The hotel is very well located to the town centre and it’s a really nice town with plenty of bars and restaurant etc in a wonderful west of Ireland location. I would especially mention the front desk staff who were excellent, it just felt like they did really care that we had a good stay and were very open to hear if we had any complaints or problems which thankfully we didn’t. They are very good ambassadors for the hotel asking us would we stay again and letting us know of upcoming special offers etc when we checked out. It makes such a change from the usual disinterested sullen staff you encounter in other hotels.

“Should be a 5 star!” -jennybean21 – Reviewed 26 September 2011- Overall review 5/5
My husband and I stayed here for 5 days in early September. We got the gold package (and got the silver package complimentary because it was our honeymoon) and it was just outstanding. Jacuzzi tub in the beautiful marble bathroom. Wine, chocolates, homemade brownies and spa products waiting for us in the room. The room itself is very big, clean and modern and the bed is fab, could sleep forever there. All guests also got a free movie every night which is great.
Dinner was included in our package in the Merlot and it was absolutely amazing. You would not expect it to be part of a package with such an abundance of choices and the food is top class. There were 3 very decent sized courses and then tea or coffee with homemade biscuits to finish. The buffet breakfast is what makes any hotel trip for my husband and I (we sound like glutons) because we love the choice and the cooked breakfasts. The Plaza did not disappoint. Loads of options in the cooked and cold section, cakes and different breads and cereals, fruit salads and lots of different juices. Toast and tea is brought to your table hot with the most to die for creamy butter. If none of the above is to taste, you can order what you like also. We also ate in the bar one night and there is a great selection and what we had was very tasty.
We only went to the leisure centre once, and it was good. Not the best we have been in but it did the job. The Spa is just out of this world. The thermal suite is the best I have seen so far and I just loved the outdoor jacuzzi tub. We got a treatment each. Himself a massage and I got a facial and it was one of the most enjoyable experiences. The relaxation room is just heaven and you could almost go for a little snooze.
The location of the hotel is brilliant. Just a minutes walk to the town but absolutely no traffic or town noise in the rooms (we had a room overlooking a garden).
All in all, we had an absolutely fantastic stay here and cannot wait to return, possibly for our first anniversary.
Would definitely recommend.
Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the garden (possibly the rooftop garden although it looked like it was groundfloor) as it is very quiet and tranquil. Also would recommend the Silver or Gold package for a little bit of luxury.

”Goodbye Portugal” – BHODublin- Reviewed 22 September 2011 -Overall review 5/5
Our golfing group decided that this year we would help our faltering economy and stay in Ireland instead of taking our annual trip to Portugal.
It was with trepidation that we set out, as the skies were grey and the weather reports not good. There was no need to worry. The weather, as expected, was not as good as Portugal but everything else more than made up for this. The hotel was simply superb, the staff likewise and the food out of this world.
The hotel is situated in the heart of the lovely town of Westport and very close to the wonderful Westport Golf club. Go there!!

We planned two nights and stayed for three as the ‘Craic’ was mighty. Best weekend ever in Westport and the Hotel staff were all friendly helpful and courteous, even lending us an umbrella to keep dry whilst out and about. The food at the hotel was excellent and the room was 1st class with jacuzzi bath as standard – sheer luxury when one got wet through in the rain. Cant wait to go back again and hopefully the sun will shine, not that it mattered to us that much.

“Another lovely stay” – Buckshee -Reviewed 21 September 2011 – Overall rating 5/5
Returned to the Westport Plaza for another stay after a previous pleasant experience. Not surprised to see that the hotel was busy because as usual it was top class in every possible way. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff who go about their business very professionally and with a smile.
Had a meal included in our deal at the Merlot Restaurant and on another night we dined at the Plaza bar and would highly recommended both for quality of food and ambience.
The major difference between this visit and our last was that we had our 3 year old with us this time. There is an excellent choice of Kiddie’s menus in the restaurants and the swimming pool was very much enjoyed by her.
We found that the major advantage the Westport Plaza has over other hotels in the area where we have stayed is its excellent staff under the guidance of Stuart Clesham.
As said in our previous review it still ticks all the boxes and at an outstanding price. We will be back and hopefully not before too long.
