Within short drives from Westport are the most beautiful, biggest and safest beaches in Europe.  They can be found by driving West towards and beyond Louisburgh.  Most beaches are signposted and very uncrowded.  Mayo has a large number of Blue Flag Beaches.  Below is a map of 14 of Mayo’s Beaches, 13 of which are Blue Flag certified.  Carrowniskey is a surfing beach therefore is not certified.
